Edward Lefurgy is a dedicated educator and mentor residing in Coldstream, British Columbia. Originally from Chilliwack, BC, where he spent his formative years, Lefurgy has cultivated a deep passion for basketball and youth development, leaving an indelible mark on both realms.

During his university years, Lefurgy not only excelled as a player but also honed his coaching skills, laying the foundation for his future endeavors. He has since coached numerous basketball teams, dedicating thousands of hours to mentoring young athletes and helping them achieve their full potential.

In addition to his coaching roles, Lefurgy is a certified private counselor, with his own counseling business named Olive Branch Wellness. Through this endeavor, he has focused on supporting youth through various challenges they face, particularly in the realm of mental health. His empathetic approach and understanding nature have earned him the trust and respect of both students and their families.

Lefurgy is also the visionary behind Roots Sports Club, a youth basketball organization aimed at providing opportunities for athletic development and personal growth. Through this club, he has created a supportive community for young athletes to thrive and excel both on and off the court.

Currently serving as a School Counselor at Kalamalka Secondary School in Coldstream, Lefurgy continues to make a positive impact on the lives of students. His leadership extends beyond the school grounds, as he dedicates his time and expertise to coaching and mentoring youth through Roots Sports Club.

At Kalamalka Secondary School, Lefurgy’s coaching has led to remarkable successes for the basketball teams under his guidance, showcasing his ability to inspire and empower young athletes. “He was always working on his skills and always asking for more coaching,” begins Lefurgy of point guard Brian Wallack, who at the time stood at just 4-foot-11. “One day I told him that if he wanted to grow, he needed to eat more hummus. At the end of the year, his mother came up to me and asked ‘Why does Brian always want to buy so much hummus.’”
